Haley + John

Hi! I'm Haley. My husband John and I live in a very tiny, very sleepy town in the Southeast.

Casa de Hines is a hold over from our college days. When we first got engaged and moved into a little townhouse together, we would joke about how everybody always hung out at "Casa de Hines." The name stuck, but for the last few years we've been floating. There hasn't been a true Casa de Hines since we got married. All that's changing.

In June 2013 we bought a house, but things didn't turn out quite the way we'd planned. After a month we closed on a house that was a far cry from the house we'd first attempted to buy. It was a pre-built home with no upgrades and lots of... character. While the headaches and tears saved us about $15K in the end, the price tag on making the house into a home continues to mount. Still, we are Hineses. We persevere.

Together we work four jobs, raise two cats, and watch way too much Star Trek. Join us on our journey as first time home owners, diy-ers, and all around awesome people trying to make the best of a new situation.

ARE YOU A FAMILY MEMBER LOOKING FOR OUR CURRENT CHINA LIST?
Our china pattern, both regular and Christmas, is Chirp by Lenox. It is carried at Belk, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Macy's. You'd be surprised what can also be found in the clearance section of TJ Maxx. The pieces we currently have are:
  • Dinner Plates:  14
  • Salad Plates:  10
  • Seasonal Salad Plates:  3
  • Dessert Plates:  4
  • Cups:  2
  • Soup Bowls:  5
  • Pasta Bowls:  5
  • Napkins:  2
  • Napkin Rings:  8
  • Tablecloth:  1
  • Place Mats:  2
We are not interested in the bath accessories, nor do we collect the square dinnerware. Our everyday line has the turquoise border, not the scarlet. We are not particularly interested in the tall bowls, dessert bowls, fruit bowls, saucers, the teapot, canisters, or the floral line, though other odds and ends are welcome. We currently use an eclectic assortment of Godinger, Corningware, and 10 Strawberry Street serveware and have yet to settle on a flatware pattern. Please do not get us any barware. John is persnickety and likes to collect his own. Our ultimate goal is a 10-person china collection. Thank you for helping us! We appreciate you all and look forward to seeing you at the next family gathering. :)
